A rail needs a secure fixing and a usable grip.
The rail, brackets, backing and clearances need to work together. The shape of the stairs and applicable building requirements also affect the job. We confirm the installation approach and any needed repairs before proceeding.
A handrail is different from a guard that protects an open edge. Tell us if the concern involves an open stair edge or a missing guard so we can discuss the correct scope.
Plan around the person using the stairs.
If stairs have become difficult even with a rail, more support or a different access plan may be needed. We can work from an occupational therapist’s recommendations. We do not assume that adding a rail makes a staircase suitable for every person.

Can you add a second handrail?
Often, yes, if the stair width, clearances and mounting structure allow it. Send photos of the full staircase so we can discuss the options.
Can you fix a loose handrail?
We can assess the rail and its fixings. Tightening a screw is not always enough; damaged backing or unsuitable brackets may need replacement.
Do you install exterior handrails?
We can discuss handrails at entry steps. The surface, weather exposure, layout and applicable requirements determine the design and quote.
Is a handrail the same as a stairlift?
No. A handrail is a fixed support to hold. A stairlift is a separate mechanical system. If a lift is needed, tell us so the project can be scoped with the appropriate specialist.
