A grab bar can be fitted through tile when the product, mounting structure and fixing method are suitable. Drilling tile alone does not establish a secure support. The installation must also account for the wet-area finish and the manufacturer's requirements.
A tile photo cannot show everything behind the wall.
There may be framing or suitable backing at the intended location, or the position may need preparation. The finish may also cover a wall assembly that needs a particular fixing approach. We assess those details before agreeing how the bar will be mounted.
Choose the location for use, then check the structure.
Do not choose a position only because an old hole is convenient or a stud is easy to find. The bar needs to be useful to the person and physically installable. If an OT has recommended a position, share it. We can identify any mounting issue that needs to be resolved.
Discuss old holes, cracks and waterproofing.
Tell us if there was a previous bar, loose fitting, cracked tile or leak. Covering a damaged area with a flange does not necessarily address the cause. Any tile repair, wall opening or restoration should be part of the agreed quote. We cannot promise a damage-free installation without seeing the conditions.
